When Castling Is Illegal

Which of these does NOT prevent you from castling?

Choose the right answer

  1. Your king is currently in check
  2. The king would pass through an attacked square
  3. Your king or that rook has already moved
  4. Your rook is currently attacked
Show the answer

Your rook is currently attacked

An attacked rook may still castle! But you can never castle out of, through, or into check — and both pieces must be unmoved.
