How to play it

• The dream: 3. f4 next, opening the f-file with the knight already guarding e4 — a King's Gambit with insurance.
• The Vienna Gambit (2…Nf6 3. f4 exf4? 4. e5!) wins material by force — the whole point of the move order.
• Quiet treatment: g3 and Bg2 gives a reversed Dragon where White's extra tempo genuinely bites.

How opponents will fight back

• Against 3. f4, play 3…d5! immediately — the central counterstrike refutes the pure gambit approach.
• 2…Nc6 keeps flexibility and forbids the strongest gambit lines.
• Treat it like a King's Gambit that owes you a tempo of information — develop, hit e4, castle.
