Pin vs Skewer
What's the difference between a pin and a skewer?
Choose the right answer
- Nothing — same tactic
- Pin: valuable piece is BEHIND. Skewer: valuable piece is IN FRONT
- Pins only work with bishops
- Skewers only attack kings
Show the answer
Pin: valuable piece is BEHIND. Skewer: valuable piece is IN FRONT
In a pin, the shielded piece behind is more valuable. In a skewer, the front piece is forced to move, exposing the one behind.
